Review: Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara

It’s review time again!

Today I’m going to be reviewing the Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ Volum’ Express Mascara (Waterproof).

I bought this mascara for more dressed up makeup looks (because I’m not keen on false eyelashes) and I’ve quite liked this mascara. I use it from time to time to accentuate bold eye makeup, with a touch of eyeliner and a smokey eye and I’m very pleased with how it works on a whole. Here’s a bit more of what I thought:

Curved Wand

What’s most distinctive about the Falsies mascara is the wand. It has what’s known as a ‘spoon wand’ which dips in the middle and glides over more of your lashes in one go. I really like using this wand, I find that it applies the product really well and manages to seperate the lashes with minimal clumping.

Falsies? Kinda not really

I’m not struck that my eyelashes appear the same as false eyelashes when using this mascara. Don’t get me wrong, the volume and definition that this product gives is fantastic particularly for a drugstore brand, but from something that calls itself ‘The Falsies’, I’m not that convinced.

Waterproof without flaking or brittle lashes

Mascara’s can be a tricky business: waterproof and industrial paint stripper won’t remove it, or not waterproof, you get caught in the rain and suddenly you’re a panda. This is a perfect waterproof mascara; it is completely waterproof but removes easily when using Simple Cleansing Wipes (without eye irritation!) and doesn’t flake or make your lashes brittle.

Overall: 4/5
Repurchase: Yes, but prefer other mascaras

Colour Used: Black
Price Range: £7.99 (Boots UK), AU$19.99 (Priceline), US$5.99 (Target)

Hope you enjoyed the review guys, let me know if there are any posts you’d like to see on here or if you want to request any reviews!

Beth xx
