NYE 2015 Outfit Inspiration

Hey guys. I hope you’ve all had a fantastic year!

It feels like 2015 has absolutely flown by and before we know it we’ll be starting the year all over again. But as we begin to get into the Christmas spirit once again, it’s time to think about how you want to get the perfect NYE look!

Sophisticated Chic

Screen Shot 2015-12-13 at 18.41.21

If you want to go for a classy and sophisticated look to ring in the New Year, go for a classic LBD paired with a matching clutch and wedges. I would opt for a simplistic hairstyle, teamed with a smokey eye and daring red lip.

Glitz and Glam

Screen Shot 2015-12-13 at 18.52.36

If you want to bring some sparkle into 2016, this girly glam look is perfect for you. A sparkly dress goes perfectly with nude or black accessories, and will look especially beautiful with braids or an updo. Use lighter shades for your eye and lip makeup and let your glitzy look take centre stage!

Smart Casual

So, you’ve seen ‘smart casual’ on your invite – what next? Well, this glitzy yet relaxed outfit is the perfect combination of dressed up and dressed down. Go for a dressy top paired with a comfortable pair of skinny jeans and combine with accessories to suit your taste!

That’s all for today guys! I hope you enjoyed my NYE outfit ideas and hopefully got some inspiration for your very own look.

Happy New Year!

Hello blog, I missed you.

So I guess I have some explaining to do, considering I have really neglected my blog over the past few months (sorry!)

Up until recently, I was very creatively drained. I couldn’t bring myself to write in my free time as I was so chaotically busy in my working life where I was writing thousands of words a day and didn’t want to spend any more time looking at the computer screen than I was already. I didn’t want to write something that was bad, so in the end I didn’t write anything at all.

More recently, I’ve been missing the blog writing. The nature of my job stuff has changed (for the better, just in case you were wondering) and I want to get in touch with my creative roots again.

So what’s been happening recently? Well, the biggest news is that I have moved, and it’s nice to start having some independence and comfort in my own home, although I have to say I’m still getting used to it.

It’s also nearly Christmas, which means I’ve very nearly missed the boat on festive posts. But don’t fret, I’ve got some last minute gift guides and outfit inspiration for you all!

That’s it for now. Watch this space for new blog posts coming soon and have a happy week!

Review: Bourjois So Laque! Nail Enamel

Hey everyone!

Today I’m going to review Bourjois’ So Laque! Nail Enamel.

This product was another freebie in a gift from Boots that I only got around to trying this week. Here’s what I thought of it.

What it promises: The formula is enriched with twice as much vinyl and a complex of highly reflective resins for ultra shiny nails with a long-lasting hold. The fixing agent in the formula keeps your nails supple, ultra shiny and highly resistant for up to 7 days hold.

Great Colour not unlike Gel Manicure
My first thoughts on this product were ‘wow’, the colour looks excellent and is really high shine even with just one coat.

Simple application
The Bourjois nail enamel wand strikes again! One simple stroke is all it takes for perfect nails. Very pleased with this.

Does not last anywhere near 7 days
Sorry, but it barely lasted 2 days without a chip for me. Yesterday I had to reapply to fix quite a few major chips. It happens, but when a product says it will last up to 7 days this is disappointing.

Dries quickly
Even though it isn’t in the 1 Seconde range, this product dries really quickly which I was really happy. Only about 1-2 mins for a thin single coat.

Overall: 4/5
Repurchase?: Yes
Shade Used: Beige Glamour
Price Range: £5.99, Boots UK

New Year Sales: Are They Really Worth It?

Hey guys!

Once again Happy New Year. Today I’m going to do more of a chatty, rambly blog about the New Year Sales.

I was wandering around town today looking through the clothes racks and I’ve noticed that I’ve seen the same items of clothing being put out for ever sale year on year. Hardly any of the stuff on sale is what you have had your eye on in the previous season. I know last year I held out on buying a jumper at Topshop because it was overpriced and I hoped that it would show up in the sale just to find that, in the New Year, the rails were crowded with bland tank tops and makeup stained t-shirts that I had absolutely no interest in.

There are obviously a few exceptions. The Next sale is always excellent if you can be bothered to get up at 5am, but why are certain high street fashion chains using the sales as an excuse to try and get rid of stock that has been crowding the stockroom for years, and not to clear out the previous season’s stock while also allowing customers to grab a bargain on something they’ve liked all season?

Am I the only person who has noticed this? How do you feel about the sales this year? If you are not from the UK, what do you think about the sales in your country? I’d be really interested to hear your views on this guys, cos quite frankly I’m fed up with it all.

On a lighter note I hope you’re all having a wonderful New Year so far. Let me know what you’re getting up to in the comments.

Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Happy New Year everyone!

My first review of 2015 will be the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation.

I bought this in mid December as an alternative foundation for minimal makeup days. Here’s what I think of it.
What it promises: Radiant and flawless complexion for up to 16 hours! Bourjois’ Healthy Mix foundation is enriched with a fruit therapy formula to enhance your complexion.” — Boots UK

Smells incredible

The first thing you will notice about this foundation is it smells amazing. Personally I think it smells like children’s suncream, a sort of mildly fruity scent that takes me back to past summer holidays. Absolutely love this.

Good low coverage

I’m not sure about flawless complexion, but I can certainly agree that this foundation gives a nice, low coverage finish that is very light to wear. Very “my skin but better”.

Not longwearing

Sorry Bourjois, this foundation does not last for 16 hours. It can last decently maybe for 8 hours maximum, but definitely does not stay in place and provide full coverage for any where near what it promises.

Hydrating – hooray for the healthy mix!

Bourjois breaks down the ‘healthy mix’ of fruits for us – apricot for radiance, melon for hydration and apple for young looking skin. At 20 years old, I can’t say I really notice whether this product makes my skin look younger, but it is certainly hydrating and makes my skin look radiant.

Overall: 3.5/5
Repurchase: Maybe
Shade used: Light Vanilla
Price: £9.99, Boots UK

Hope you liked the review guys. Let me know what new products you have tried. What did you think of Bourjois Healthy Mix?

Review: Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Enamel

Time for another review!

Today I will be reviewing the 1 Seconde Nail Enamel by Bourjois Paris.

I have wanted to try this out for a while, and when I paid a trip to Boots this week looking for a festive polish I picked this one up. Here’s what I thought about it.
What it promises: “Its one-coat gel formula, enriched with silicon gives nails the perfect curve and an ultra glossy result. Its fan-effect brush adapts to the size of each nail for an ultra quick, neat and groomed result in just 1 second, with a single stroke!” – Bourjois Website

Maybe not 1 Second, but certainly fast-drying!

So I don’t know about drying in 1 second, but this is certainly the quickest drying nail polish I have ever used. This product is ideal for anyone who wants a clean, stylish nail paint without having to sit around for an hour because you’re afraid of smudging. Last minute manicure, anyone?

I LOVE the brush

The blurb talks about the fan-effect brush and I absolutely love it. It’s so easy to use and gives a great finish. Just one smooth stroke over the nail and you are ready to go.

Lasts well

I’ve found this nail polish actually wears really well. I’ve been wearing it for a short while and so far I have no chips.

Overall: 4/5
Repurchase: Yes! I want this in every colour! (Please Bourjois? As a Christmas Present? 😉 )
Colour Used: 43 Champagne Shower
Price: £5.99 (Boots)

Thats all for now guys. As always let me know what products you would like me to review in the comments or on Twitter.

Have a great week! 8 Sleeps to go!
